Welcome!

Looking for a very decent SUV. I purchased the FORD ESCAPE clone by Mazda. Here is our 2005 Mazda Tribute i. We get about mid 20s around town and in the mid 30s on the highway.

K&N Filter (33-2187)
Since the maintenance schedule requires replacing the air filter at 37,000 miles...I went ahead used this K&N filter as our replacement at 30,000 miles. Takes under 10 minutes to make the switch. It will cost just under $50. But, it is half the size of the manufacturer's and can last 100,000+ miles if you follow the K&N cleaning recommendations.

Motorcraft Fuel Filter (FG-800A)
Takes about 1.5 hours to change. Better to be safe than sorry. If you have any car, then I suggest getting a copy of the manufacturer's technical manual. In the case of my Tribute, it is the Mazda Tribue 2005 Workshop Manual (P/N 9999-95-062B-05). This is extremely handy for the do-it-yourselfer after all the warranties have run out.

COOPER DISCOVERER H/T (235/70R16)
These tires replaced the Continental Contitrac that came on the truck. They are superior in every way to the originals. Only down side was a price of a little over $500. But, 16" wheels are going to increase the cost of any tire.
